Growing up, my mom and grandmother taught me the importance and joy of creating simple delicious meals for the family from scratch. Many meals started by spending days in the garden on our 10 acres in Manor or would be spent driving to the "pick your own" fields in Waco or surrounding areas. Many evenings were spent shelling black eyed peas, putting up pickles, making jelly, snapping beans, shucking corn to put up, or creating the perfect Thanksgiving, Easter or Christmas family gathering.
As the only daughter in her family of 5, my mom cooked dinners for their family while my grandparents ran their own business in Waco, Texas. After she got married she had to learn how to scale down her meals for just her and my dad. Then as their family grew, we worked together as I was the oldest of 5 children.
My sister was born when I was 17 years old. As I left to start my career and family, my sister began to love being in the kitchen just like my grandmother, mom, and myself. She has a passion for Asian culture as well and learned how to make the most exquisite desserts, breads and meals.
With a daughter of my own and as a single mom, I wish to carry on that tradition of gathering in the kitchen with my own daughter. She had worked hard to learn how to make things that are easy and healthy to keep up the best health for her busy competitive dance schedule both in the studio and in school. I also cook monthly lunches for the elders and their spouses in our church and love to bake whenever I can share my love for cooking with others.
When I began to fundraise for Kenya, I started making lasagna dinners and pies. The fundraising efforts provided 75% of the support for my trip. Before I left my mom and sister said we should start something when you get back. Thus the birth of 4 Tha Luv's Kitchen. As a family effort, my mom, Nancy Hauk, my Sister, Dorothea Hauk and my daughter Elise Castleberry and myself, Laura Hauk will be providing the option to purchase entrees weekly for your family, you can add sides and desserts as well. There will only be a certain number of meals available weekly so be sure to reserve your meal for that week. We will also be providing an option for homemade desserts at anytime. (24-72 hour notice for all bakery requests) . We will offer items year round including homemade dill pickles, jellies, bread, cookies, seasonings and more.
Thank you for your interest in 4 The Luv's Kitchen. We look forward to bringing our family's kitchen to your family's table. <3
